Francisco Collazos Sánchez graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1995. He specialized in Psychiatry at the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital in Madrid between 1997 and 2001. He has a Master’s Degree in Legal Psychiatry from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Diploma in “Mental Health in Situations of Political Violence and Catastrophes” from the Complutense University of Madrid. He attended summer courses at McGill University (Montreal, Canada) on Transcultural Psychiatry and specialized in Mental Health and Complex Emergencies at Fordham University (New York, USA).
Since 2001 he has been working as an associate psychiatrist at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona, where he is the coordinator of the Transcultural Psychiatry Program.
He has participated in several international cooperation projects in mental health. He has received several grants to carry out various research projects related to the mental health of immigrants. He teaches as an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and in several masters and postgraduate courses.
