Aging with HIV: focus on CNS

He is a member of the special Task Force of the Chancellor of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in Modena, Italy dedicated to developing international cooperation in reseach. As such he has acquired extensive experience in dealing with issues related to the care of HIV patients in resource-limited Countries.
In 2002 he started a liver and kidney transplant program for HIV infected patients at the multi-organ transplant centre at Policlinico of Modena. He personally cares for approximately 80 HIV patients who received solid organ transplantation.
Since the year 2000 he leads the Modena HIV Metabolic Clinic (MHMC). This referral centre offers a multidisciplinary team approach to HIV patients with metabolic abnormalities and offers a multidimensional evaluation of ageing HIV infected patients. More than 4500 patients are followed at this Centre.
