Dr. Magnus Gisslén is professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He shares his time between clinical work with HIV patients as head of the HIV unit at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, and clinical HIV research, holding a research position at the Swedish Research Council. The main interest of his current research is HIV persistence and latent reservoirs, mainly focusing on the HIV infection of the central nervous system. He also serves as HIV consultant in 20 Infectious Disease Clinics around Sweden. Dr. Gisslén is member of the National Committee for Swedish HIV Treatment Guidelines, the Swedish National HIV Register (InfCare HIV) and appointed for The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare.
