Lawrence McGlynn, M.D.

Lawrence McGlynn is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area in California, USA. He graduated with a degree in Mathematics and enjoyed a career in the mathematical modeling of fiber optic electronics prior to entering the field of medicine.

He completed his medical degree at Harvard Medical School and an internship in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. Subsequently he returned to Harvard to complete his residency in Psychiatry, focusing on HIV and Latino Mental Health.

Dr. McGlynn now serves on the faculty of Stanford University School of Medicine where he treats those living with HIV/AIDS. He also serves as Director of the Stanford Methamphetamine Task Force. Nationally he is the former Chairman of the Office of HIV for the American Psychiatric Association (APA), and currently holds a seat on the Council of Psychosomatic Medicine for the APA.
